A young man who received injuries in an attack in Mehendiganj upazila of Barishal on Friday, succumbed on Sunday.
Deceased Md. Sourav, 18, was the son of Monir Khan of West Ratanpur village under Biddanandapur union.
Manir Khan said one of his cows ate jute leaves from the land of their neighbour Majibar Rahman that led to an
altercation.
At one stage, a group, led by Mojibor Rahman equipped with sharp weapons attacked Manir and his family, leaving seven including Sourav injured.
He said the injured were given first aid at Muladi Upazila health complex and doctors on emergency duty asked them to go to home.
"Some of the injured including my son having head injuries were denied admission to the hospital. Even, they did not refer them to Barishal Sher-e Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment and My son died due to injury on Sunday morning," alleged Manir Khan.
Meanwhile, Md. Saidur Rahman, Upazila Health and Family Welfare Officer of Muladi, said, "Nine of the injured came to the hospital on Friday and were given treatment including their x-ray. As none was injured critivcally, they were not admitted to the hospital. The cause of death can be determined after postmortem."
Additional Superintendent of Barishal district Police Naimul Islam Khan visited the spot ,and said it was regretful that the injured were denied admission in the hospital and one of them died.
A beating case which was lodged on Friday night by Manir Khan at Kazirhat Police Station will be registered as murder case
Till filing of this report none was arrested, said Kabir, duty officer of Kazirhat Police Station.
Meanwhile, in Bakerganj, a man was killed by his rivals at Kalerkati village under Kabai Union over land dispute on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Apang Talukder,35.
Abul Kalam, the officer in Charge of Bakerganj Police Station said, one Rasel Hossain and his 6/7 associates attacked their rival groups at noon following a long-standing land dispute that injured 5/6 including Apang Talukder.
Apang later succumbed to his injuries on way to Bakerganj Upazila health Complex, said the OC.
