Members of the high-level committee formed to probe the flocking of people at the funeral prayer of Khelafat Majlish Senior Nayebe Ameer Maulana Jubayer Ahmed Ansari have begun their investigation.

Three members of the committee headed by the Additional DIG of Chattogram Range Md Iqbal Hossain visited Jamia Rahmania Bertala Madrasa premises on Sunday evening. They also talked to local people.

Later, Md Iqbal Hossain told journalists that they started investigation. "We'll talk to many people, and collect information. After analysing those, we'll be able to know exactly what had happened," he said.

Replying to a question, he said: "It's difficult to tell anything right now. We've talked to local villagers. They said people came here from adjacent villages to join namaj-e-janaza. We'll be able to tell details later on."

Md Iqbal Hossain, however, declined to say anything more. However, he is scheduled to submit inquiry report by April 22.

During the visit, Chattogram Additional Police Super Pankaj Kumar and Brahmanbaria Additional Police Super Md Alamgir Hossain, local police officials were present.
