Rickshaw-puller Mobarak Mia, whose leg had been cut off by rivals during a clash in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Wednesday.
Mobarak, 45, recently had come to his village home at Krishnanagar from Dhaka amid coronavirus crisis.
On April 12, around 50 people was injured in the clash ensued between the followers of Krishnanagar union chairman Zillur Rahman and a local leader Abu Kausar Molla over establishing supremacy in the area.
Supporters of Kauser Molla cut off Mobarak’s left leg and paraded the area with the severed leg chanting “Joy Bangla” slogan.
Mobarak’s relatives said they also tried to cut off his right leg and hacked on his hand and back.
The victim’s wife alleged that they did not get police assistance in this regard.
Additional superintendent of police (Nabinagar circle) Maqbul Hossain confirmed the death this morning.
