Rajbari village under lockdown after man dies with corona symptoms



A youth died with coronavirus symptoms in Rajbari on Monday.

Ruhul Sheikh, 30, son of late Habibur Sheikh, of village Sengram in Bahadurpur union under Pangsha upazila of the district died with the symptoms of fever, sneeze, shortness of breath, diarrhoea and throat pain.

Following his death, the Pangsha upazila administration has announced lockdown over the entire Sengram village.

Health and Family Planning officer Dr Anjuara Khatun Sumi of Pangsha upazila said Ruhul Sheikh was a local bus driver at Nabinagar area in Dhaka. He came at his village Sengram from Dhaka about 10 to 12 days ago. Since then he had been suffering from fever, sneeze, shortness of breath, diarrhoea and throat pain.

In spite of informing anyone else, he had been hiding at his home.

As he started feeling very sick on Monday morning, the family members took him to a local village doctor. The doctor advised his family members to take him to a specialist physician. Subsequently, he died in an autorickshaw on his way to Kushtia Hospital.

Dr Anjuara Khatun Sumi further said, "Receiving information, we hurriedly collected samples from the body of the person and sent to Dhaka for tests. We will be able to know whether the person was infected with coronavirus once we receive the report of the tests."

Pangsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Rafiqul Islam said the entire Sengram was brought under lockdown holding an emergency meeting of the Upazila Corona Resistance Committee in the afternoon.

Besides, the body of the deceased was buried with utmost caution.
