A man with coronavirus symptoms died at Kushtia General Hospital on Monday morning.
The deceased, aged about 40, was a easy-bike driver and a resident in Chourhash area under Kushtia municipality.
However, nine staff of the hospital, including two doctors, have been kept under quarantine following the death.
Some 10 houses nearby the deceased's house were also put under lockdown.
Quoting family members, Kushtia civil surgeon HM Anwarul Islam said the man had been suffering from cold, fever and cough for last three days.
The family members took him to the hospital following his severe respiratory problems this morning. He was declared dead around 7:00 am.
The hospital resident medical officer (RMO) Taposh Kumar Sarker said none of the deceased's family members came from abroad. He might have come in touch with a coronavirus infected while driving easy-bike.
Sample from the deceased was collected and will be sent to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka for test, the RMO added.
Kushtia Sadar UNO Zobair Hossain Chowdhury said about 10 houses were put under lockdown following the death and limited movement of the inhabitants in the area was also announced.
