Robber suspect killed in 'gunfight'

The deceased was identified as Khokon of Barguna district.
On secret information that a gang of robbers was taking preparation to commit robbery, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a drive in Choygharia at early hours, said DB police inspector Ikhtiar Uddin.

Sensing presence of the DB team, the gang members opened fire on the DB, forcing them to fire back in self-defence.

At one stage of gun-battle, Khokon was caught in the line of fire.

He was rushed to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

A pipe-gun, two cartridges and a machete were recovered from the scene.
