Five countries will extend visas to Bangladeshi workers

Five countries—Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Amirat, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Iarq— have assured to extend the visa tenure for Bangldeshi workers.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said this following a meeting with envoys of the five countries at the State Guest House Padma on Thursday.

“Do not be panicked. Workers visa tenure will be extended after the coronavirus situation comes to normalcy,” said the Minister.

The five Middle Eastern countries pose restriction on foreigners’ entry amid the fear of deadly coronavirus situation.

Coronavirus free medical certificate will not be required for the Bangladeshi workers to enter the Middle East countries, said Momen.

Urging the Bangladeshi expatriates in different countries not to visit the country right now, the minister said, “It is better to stay in the countries where you are now and obey the rules of the respective countries.  If you face any problem, please contact with the Bangladesh mission”.

Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad and secretaries of health and civil aviation and tourism, among others, were present.
