Ex-state minister Rahmat Ali passes away



Former LGRD state minister and Awami League advisory committee member advocate Md Rahmat Ali passed away at a hospital in Dhaka on Sunday morning. He was 75.

His personal assistant SM Jahangir Alam Siraji said Rahmat Ali, also the lawmaker from Gazipur-3 constituency, breathed his last around 7:30am at Square Hospitals where he had been undergoing treatment.
He left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter, host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Five-time elected lawmaker Rahmat Ali was the state minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) when the AL returned to power through the 7th national election.

His daughter Rumana Ali Tusi is the lawmaker from the reserved seat no 14 for women.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the former state minister. Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also expressed her profound shock.
