2,600 cold-hit people get blankets in three districts

At least 2,600 cold-hit people got blankets in three districts- Gaibandha, Kishoreganj and Brahmanbaria, recently.
GAIBANDHA: A total of 400 cold-hit poor people in Sadar Upazila of the district got 800 blankets and ear caps, known as monkey caps, from Sajida Foundation through Sinnomul Mohila Samity (SMS) on Tuesday.
In this connection, a blanket and cap distribution function, organised by SMS, was held at its head office in cooperation with Federation of NGOs in Bangladesh (FNB).
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin was chief guest at the function while Executive Director of SMS Murshedur Rahman Khan was in the chair.
Moderated by Assistant Director of SMS Masudunnabi Lipon, the function was also addressed, among others, by Regional Manager of Sajida Foundation M Rejwanul Karim Mondal, and journalist Sarker Mohammad Shahiduzzaman.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Abdul Matin said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and various non-government organisations allocated blankets for the cold-hit people of the district.
The blankets were being distributed to the cold-hit people, including aged women and men at grassroots level of the district at the direct supervision of district and upazila administrations, the DC added.
The DC also thanked the SMS and Sajida Foundation for standing beside them with warm clothes to lessen their sorrows.
Chairman of FNB, district unit Rawshan Alam Rolex and Senior Area Manager of Sajida Foundation Mamunur Rashid were also present on the occasion.

KISHOREGANJ: A total of 200 cold-hit people got blankets in the district on Tuesday.
In this connection, a distribution function was held at local police lines under the initiative of Police Nari Kallyan Samity (Punak).
District Punak President Mahfuza Naznin Disher Chowdhury attended the programme as chief guest while District Punak Vice President Suchana Chakma, Hosna Layal and Priyanka Nath attended as special guests.
Additional Police Super Masud Anwar and Kishoreganj Model Police Station Inspector Joynal Abedin were also present.
BRAHMANBARIA: Some 2,000 blankets have been distributed among cold-hit people at Salimganj Union in Nabinagar Upazila of the district on Sunday.
Salimganj Union Awami League (AL) President Md Mainul Haque Shikder distributed the blankets on behalf of Mohammad Rezaul Karim, managing director of Reedisha Group of Industries.
Among others, Barail Islami Academy Principal Mohammad Ershadur Rahman, union AL Organising Secretary Mominul Haque, and social workers Md Shah Alam Mia and Pakrul Hasan were also present in the programme.
