Ruling Awami League lawmaker Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh resigned from Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday to contest in mayoral post for the upcoming Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls.
Taposh's media coordinator Tareque Shikdar told media that the Dhaka-10 MP tendered his resignation on Sunday.
Earlier, AL nominated incumbent Mayor M Atiqul Islam and Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP as its candidates for the upcoming elections to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) respectively.
The elections to Dhaka North and South City Corporations will be held on January 30 next year.
