Verdict against ex-OC Moazzem on Nov 28

Verdict in the case filed over unlawfully interrogating deceased Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi and recording it on phone would be delivered on November 28.

Bangladesh Cyber Tribunal Judge Mohammad As Sams Jaglul Hossain on Wednesday set the date after prosecution and defense both concluded their arguments.

Taking testimony in the case ended on November 12. A total of 12 witnesses have testified before the tribunal.

On November 14, former Sonagazi Police Station officer-in-charge Moazzem Hossain pleaded not guilty and sought justice.

OC Moazzem is accused of unlawfully interrogating Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi and recording it on phone. A video of the incident went viral on the social media, prompting Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon to file a case against the policeman on April 15 under the Digital Security Act.

On May 27, investigation officer Rima Sultan submitted a 123-page report before the tribunal.

Then, court issued arrest warrant against Moazzem following plaintiff's plea.

On June 16, Shahbagh Police Station arrested Moazzem from Shahbag area.

On June 17, cyber tribunal denied bail to him and ordered to send him to jail.

Nusrat Jahan Rafi, 18, an Aleem examinee from Sonagazi Fazil Madrasa, was set on fire by some fellows in the morning of April 6 as she refused to withdraw a case filed against the madrasa principal, Sirajuddoula, for sexual harassment.

On October 24, the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Feni sentenced all the 16 accused to death for killing Nusrat.
