Take action against loan defaulters

Published : Wednesday, 23 October, 2019 at 12:00 AM  Count : 218

Dear Sir

A default loans' culture in Bangladesh's banking sector has concentrated people's entrusted money into the hands of a few bad people and putting the entire sector in a big threat. To bring down the default loans, the central bank and the government should have to take a zero-tolerance approach on non-performing loans. Very few of defaulters are defaulted by chance but most of the wilful defaulters have created a loophole in public money and also anarchy in the banking sector. They have created a wilful culture in the banking industry whimsically as an ominous. They used to lead a lavish lifestyle in home and abroad but never repay the defaulted loan in time.

It should be transparency in politics and in business that can reflect in as a good borrower in banking sector. The whole business community can't be portrayed as criminals because of the wilful defaulters.
We have found in Bangladesh that large loan defaulters get the opportunity to have their loans rescheduled several times. The wilful loan defaulters should be handed down exemplary punishment as they have tainted the image of the business community in home and abroad and affected the banking sector.
