Law Minister Anisul Huq on Tuesday said that the government has decided to form a National Commission to find out the masterminds and those who were behind the plot of killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15 in 1975.
He informed that with the directives of Prime Minister, the Commission would be formed soon with specific terms of references (ToR).
The Law Minister also asserted that actions would be taken to confiscate the properties of the killers of the Father of the Nation.
"The verdict against the convicted fugitive killers of Bangabandhu must be executed. Those, who are fugitive, will be brought back from the countries where they are hiding now," the Minister said at a view exchange meeting held in ruling Awami League's Bangabandhu Avenue office in Dhaka.
Awami League-led 14-party alliance organised the view exchange meeting.
AL Presidium Member and 14-party alliance Chief Coordinator Mohammed Nasim presided over the meeting, where leaders of the 14-party alliance demanded to confiscate assets of all involved in the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The meeting was addressed by Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASOD) President Hasanul Haq Inu, Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, AL central leaders and former ministers Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya and Quamrul Islam, former media advisor to the Prime Minister and the Daily Observer Editor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and Dhaka City South AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad.
Mohammad Nasim said that all the killers and masterminds behind the killing of Bangabandhu must be unmasked before the people. The new generation must know who plotted the killing of the Father of the Nation along with his family members and the four national leaders in the Central Jail, he added.
He informed that 14-party alliance will organise meetings, human chains and demonstrations across the country to ensure the extradition of the killers to Bangladesh and hang them.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said the whereabouts of three convicted fugitive killers are yet to be known. "We are trying our best to bring back the two fugitive killers who have already been traced and execute them before celebration of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu next year," he said.
