The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is going to launch a combing operation in the city tomorrow (Tuesday) to control the menase of Aedes mosquito that spreads dengue fever.

The DNCC spokesman ASM Mamun said the operation is set to begin at 10.00am at Dhaka North ward No. 19.

Mamun told the daily Observer that the ward has been split into 10 blocks and each block will divided into to sub-blocks for launching the programme.

“The DNCC staff will visit every house in every sub-block during the operation. They will check for Aedes mosquito larvae in these houses or establishments. Action will be taken if Aedes larvae are found there,” he added.

If residential buildings are found to contain Aedes larvae, the first-time offenders will be let off with a warning, said Mamun.

“A red sticker will be put in front of a house if Aedes larvae are found there. Action will be taken against the house owners if larvae are seen again in that same house,” he said.
