Toddler dies of dengue at SBMC

A toddler have died of dengue fever at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC) in Barishal, amid outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease across country, specially in capital.

Eighteen-month-old Md Tawhid was the son of expatriate Isahaq Jomadder, a resident of Madhya Lakurtala village in Sadar upazila of Barguna district.

Tawhid was first taken to Barguna General Hospital on July 30 after he suffered from fever. Later, he was diagnosed with dengue fever there.

After primary treatment, the toddler was sent to SBMC on Friday for better treatment where he died on the day.

Rita Akter, mother of the child, said she along with Tawhid went to see her dengue affected brother Razib in College Road area of Barguna municipality. Her son became sick.
Then, she took him to hospital where doctors told her that her son was affected by dengue.
