A total of 139 dengue patients are now undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMC), Barishal, according to the hospital authorities.

Among them, 92 are male, 39 female and eight children.

The number of the dengue patients are increasing day by day in the city.

In the last 24 hours, 35 people were admitted to the hospital after being affected by the mosquito-borne disease, said the hospital authorities.

A total of 216 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital from July 16 to August 3. Among them, 75 have returned home after getting treatment while two patients died.

Dr Md. Rakib Hossain, director of the hospital, said, a control room has already been opened to proved assistance to the dengue patients.

A separate ward will be opened soon for the dengue patients, he added.
