Jhenidah boy killed as he saw theft: PBI


Schoolboy Samiul Alam Safin was strangulated to death by thieves as he saw the theft at his home in Jhenidah district town in 2018.  

Jhenidah Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Superintendent Abu Ahsraf told journalists at a briefing at the PBI office on Sunday noon following the arrest of main accused Mehedi Hasan Biltu.
Accused Biltu and his mother Jahanara Begum, however, have given confessional statements to PBI under section 164.

Safin, a sixth grader at Jhenidah Government Boys' High School, was strangulated to death by Biltu and his mother after he saw the theft committed at his home in Hamdah area of the district town on November 28, 2018.

The investigation officer, Md Touhidul Islam, said police first detained Billtu's elder brother Laltu. Later, a team of PBI conducted a drive in Kalshi area of Dhaka based on information from Laltu on July 25 and arrested Biltu from there.

On November 29, 2018, Alamgir Hossain Alam, father of the deceased lodged a case with Jhenidah Sadar Police Station over the murder.
