Body recovered eight days after missing

Police recovered the body of a man from the Dhalai river in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet on Saturday night.

Son of late Nurul Islam, deceased Helal Ahmed was a resident of Moddho Rajnagar village in the upazila.

On 13 July, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) chased a boat carrying 10-12 men in the Dhalai river went out to bring Bholaganj stone quarry at night. Sensing the presence of BGB they all jumped into the river.

All the men without Helal were managed to swim ashore.

Locals spotted the floating body in the river in front of Bankar Piller around 10:00 pm and informed it to police.

Later, police recovered the body from the spot ad sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue.

Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-charge Tajul Islam confirmed the matter.
