Abduction panic grips children, parents

The child abduction panic has gripped the children and the parents in different districts of the country including Noakhali and Bhola.
BEGUMGANJ, NOAKHALI: A rumour that children's blood is needed to build bridges and so children will be sacrificed, has spread in different districts including Noakhali, Feni and Laxmipur.
In the meantime, an attempt to kidnap a madrasa student Muhammad Muhannan, 11, son of Omar Faruk of No. 7 Ward under Bosurhat Municipality in Companyganj Upazila of Noakhali and a student of Ashraful Ulum Madrasa in Dagonbhuiyan Upazila of Feni has increased the panic.   
Muhannan's auntie Fatema said, "When my nephew went out of the madrasa at night, some unidentified criminals tried to kidnap him. At that time, they cut the veins of his hand and leg. After this, they tried to tie up his eyes and mouth. Meanwhile, hearing his scream, locals rushed to the spot and the abductors ran away. Locals took the student to Companyganj Upazila Health Complex for treatment."
Medical Officer of the health complex Shawkat Al Imran said, "When the victim was brought to the hospital, we found cut marks on his hand and leg."
Police said Muhannan's family is yet to file complaint in this connection.
Noakhali Police Super Md Alamgir Hossain said, "It is a random incident, so there is no need to be afraid. We are investigating the matter."
CHAR FASHION, BHOLA: A throat-slitting rumour has spread from the rural to municipal areas in Char Fasson Upazila of the district.
A massage from mobile phone sent by a corner has kept children wary.   
The rumour has created panic. The children are not going out of home.
Teachers said the presence of students in local schools has been reduced unexpectedly.
Not only children but also the guardians became puzzled for this rumour. They are not letting their child to go out. Many of them wanted to know about the rumour from teachers, journalists, police and public representatives.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Ruhul Amin said it's just a rumour on the base of ignorance. But, he could not tell the motives of the culprits behind the rumour.
Officer-in-Charge of Char Fasson Police Station Shamsul Arefin claimed that the throat slitting rumour is baseless.
He said police will investigate into the matter to identify the culprits behind the rumour.
