Rohingya woman jailed for Yaba smuggling

A court in Cox's Bazar district on Sunday jailed a Rohingya woman for five years in a drug case.

Jailed Fatema Khatun, 40, resides at Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.

Joint District and Sessions Court judge Mahmudul Hasan handed down the verdict.

The court also fined her Tk 5,000, in default, she will have to suffer five months more in jail.

According to the prosecution, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Fatema along with 9,790 pieces of Yaba tablets from Amgachhtala area of Kutupalong refugee camp on October 28, 2017.
