12th Int’l Student Summit-19 held at DU

Nearly three thousand students from 35 countries are studying in different government and private universities in Bangladesh. The 12th International Student Summit was held at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium, University of Dhaka (DU), on Thursday, organized by Runner Bangladesh Development Society (RBDS) and the Federation of International Student Associations (UDEF) gathered a large amount of international and domestic students studying in Bangladesh.
The principal of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Prof Dr Khan Abul Kalam Azad took speech as keynote speaker of the summit. Nahida Sobhan, Director General of the UN wing of Ministry of foreign affairs; Atiqur Rahman, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of railway; Enis Faruk Erdem, Deputy Head of Mission of Turkey appointed in Bangladesh; Mohammad Salah Uddin ,Vice President of UDEF; Asalan Bakiroglu,  Asia Co-ordinator and Ashrafi Hasan, Executive Director of RBDS were present at the event.
Head of Higher Education of British Council Mohammad Touhidur Rahman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Initiative for Policy and Development (BIPD) Abdullah Zobair, Partnership Specialist Zinath Sultana and other speakers conducted various sessions of the day-long programme.
In this event, improved Quality of education system in Bangladesh, as well as higher education facilities for international students are highlighted. All speakers shared their prospects that Bangladesh is going ahead as a potential country for foreign students. Besides, there was a cultural exchange among the international and local students coming to the summit. It is to be noted that Bangladesh has been keeping pace with other countries in the world to provide higher education for International students. Universities are able to offer quality education and low-cost study opportunities for enrolled students. As a result, many foreign students are now coming to the universities, Bangladesh. According to the University Grants Commission's Annual Report of the year 2017, the number of International students studying in government and private universities of Bangladesh is 2438.
