Four killed as truck plunges into Turag

At least four people were killed after a truck, laden with bricks, plunged into the Turag River in Dhaka's Ashulia.
Zabed Masum, inspector of Ashulia Police Station said  two missing  workers were found dead hours after  the accident took place on Baipail-Abdullahpur Road at Moragang around 7:00am Tuesday, After more than four hours of effort, firefighters pulled up the truck that plunged 40 feet deep into the river when the driver lost control of it while trying to came out of a brickfield in Moragang.
Truck driver Mujahid Hossain, 25, brickfield security guard Abdul Kader, 40, were found dead around 9:30am. Th bodies of missing workers--Shaheen Hossain, 35, and Arif, 26--were found two and a half hours after that, said Inspector Zabed.  All victims were from Jhenaigati Upazila in Sherpur.
Five workers were on board the truck when it crashed. Of them, three managed to swim ashore. They have been admitted to East-West Medical College Hospital in Uttara.
Two teams of divers and five firefighting units carried out the rescue operation.
Moniruzzaman, zone commander of Uttara and Tongi Fire Service Station said rescue efforts were difficult because the entire truck went below water. Cold weather and low visibility were troubling rescue workers.
