‘Distribution of books on first day of New Year enhances country's image’

The Text Book Festival was celebrated in all the districts of the  country on Tuesday with the distribution of new textbooks among the students of school, madrasha and vocational training centres.
The textbook distribution to the students of primary and secondary levels educational institutions free of cost on the first day of the New Year enhanced country's image at home and abroad.
The speakers made the comments in general while addressing distribution programmes organised in the educational institutions in the districts.
At least 4,20,19,884 new books were distributed in 14 districts of the country.

BARISHAL: Over 23 lakh primary and secondary level students in six districts of the division: Barishal, Barguna, Bhola, Jhalakati, Patuakhali and Pirojpur, got about two crore free textbooks on Tuesday.
Primary and secondary office sources said the textbooks were sent to each of the 8,974 educational institutions of the division within December 29 last and all the students received books on Tuesday morning.
Acknowledging the fact SM Faruk, deputy director (DD) of Primary Education Office of Barishal Division said they have sufficient stock of the books.  
In Barishal, the distribution of the books among primary level students started on Mukul Smriti Primary School premises. SM Ajior Rahman, deputy commissioner (DC) of Barishal, inaugurated the programme as chief guest.  
At the same time, the distribution of the books among secondary level students started on Barisal PIT School premises where Divisional Commissioner Ram Chandra Das was chief guest.
Related sources said there are total 8,974 primary and secondary level educational institutions in six districts of the division. The department received 100 per cent of the books.

GAIBANDHA: Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah said the tough work of book distribution has been possible and came to reality as the government took pragmatic and sincere efforts, he said.Deputy Speaker and also local lawmaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah made the comments while addressing an inaugural function on free textbooks distribution festival on the premises of Napiterhat Government Primary School in Fulchhari Upazila here on Tuesday as chief guest.
Upazila administration and upazila primary education office jointly arranged the function like other parts of the country.
The government started this book distribution festival first in 2010, which will continue to build a prosperous Bangladesh, the deputy speaker said.
The students will be more studious after getting the new books and they will be able to turn the country into a self-reliant nation through fulfilling the government's expectation, the deputy speaker added.
He also urged the teachers to be more professional and sincere in discharging their duties to ensure quality education to the students and make them worthy citizens of the country through turning the institutions into knowledge acquiring centres.
Later, Deputy Speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah formally inaugurated the free textbook distribution programme in his constituency through handing over books to the students of the school.
Nazmul Ahsan, a student of grade five, who came to the school with his guardian, said he was very much delighted and happy as he got a set of new books, and he wanted to be an ideal teacher of a college in future.
Upazila Chairman Habibur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdul Halim Tolstoy, and Upazila Primary Education Officer Kafil Uddin were also present on the occasion.
Talking to the correspondent, District Primary Education Officer Hossain Ali said 20,88,627 textbooks were distributed to 4,51,161 students of 3,217 schools of the district.

KHULNA: Primary and secondary level students got new textbooks in festive mood in the city and the district on Tuesday, the first day of the New Year.
Book distribution ceremony has been arranged at every school to handover the books among the students.
In Khulna, metropolitan and district level high officials launched the book distribution activities formally at a function held at Khulna Zila School. Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the festival ceremony as chief guest. Chaired by DD of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Zone of Khulna Niva Rani Pathak, Divisional Commissioner of Khulna Lokman Hossain Mia, Chairman of Khulna Zila Parishad Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, Police Super SM Shafiullah, Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Zone of Khulna Harun-ur- Rashid, Additional DC (General) Ziaur Rahman and Head Teacher of the school Md Ariful Islam attended the programme as special guests. Khulna District Education Officer Ruhul Amin delivered the welcome speech.
Mayor Khaleque said the present government has been distributing free books to the school students aimed at ensuring education for all to free the nation from the curse of illiteracy.
It was said in the meeting that more than 19.11 lakh primary and secondary level students under Khulna Division received 2,62,62,000 books and 2,58,263 primary and secondary level students under Khulna District received 33.79 lakh new books. The students were seen very happy after getting new books on the first day of the year. The authorities of the schools have kept five per cent books as buffer stock for meeting any deficit and for the newly admitted students.
Niva Rani Pathak told The Daily Observer that required number of books was sent to all the government and registered non-government schools in the district for distribution among the students.

ULIPUR, KURIGRAM: A total of 11,15,804 new textbooks were distributed among 1,09,870 primary and secondary level students of the upazila.Newly elected lawmaker of Kurigram-3 Constituency Professor MA Matin distributed the books among the students at Ulipur Model Government Primary School as chief guest on Tuesday morning.
Head Teacher of the school Syeda Umme Habiba Poly conducted the programme.
Among others, UNO Md Abdul Kader, General Secretary (GS) of Upazila Awami League Golam Hossen Montu, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abdur Rob, and Upazila Primary Education Officer Md Mozammel Haque Shah were also present.
On the other hand, GS of Ulipur Press Club Assistant Professor Jahangir Alam Sardar inaugurated the festival at Sarderpara Government Primary School and UNO Md Abdul Kader and President of Ulipur Press Club Abu Sayeed Sarker inaugurated the festival at Pandit Mohir Uddin High School.

PABNA: A total of 64,09,740 new textbooks were distributed among 7,57,045 primary and secondary level students in the district on the first day of the New Year on Tuesday.
In this connection, the school authorities organised functions on their respective school premises and distributed the books in presence of their guardians and local distinguished persons.
According to Primary Education Office, a total of 19,24,740 books have been distributed to the 4,13,045 students from class one to five.

On the other hand, the District Secondary Office sources said, a total of 44,85,340 books have been distributed among 3.44 lakh students of 571 educational institutions including secondary, madrasa and vocational institutions of the district.
DC Md Jasim Uddin said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has the vision to build a developed country by 2041 through an educated and skilled human resource. As part of the vision, the books were distributed.
He also said according to the schedule they have distributed all the books among the students, but if someone does not get books, they will get those at anytime from their respective intuitions.
Sreetama Basak, a student of class six of Government Girls School said, "This is very amazing to me that on the first day of the New Year we got new books." Pritish Kumar Kundu, teacher of Government Girls School, said, "It is very much encouraging for us that we could start our regular class in time from the beginning of the year."
Monowara Begum, a guardian of a student, said her husband works at a wood shop, and she has been very happy for getting new books for her daughter free of cost.

PANCHAGARH: A total of 25,26,970 new textbooks were distributed among 2,87,744 primary and secondary level students in the district on the first day of the New Year.
In this connection, the school authorities organised a function on their respective school premises and distributed the books in presence of their guardians and local distinguished persons.
According to Primary Education Office, there are 700 primary schools at five upazilas of the district and the number of students are 1,54,612. Hundred per cent books from class one to five were distributed to the students.
On the other hand, District Secondary Office sources said, there are 300 educational institutions including madrasa and vocational ones in the district, and they have 1,32,132 students. As per the demand, all books were received from Dhaka before the distribution.
Rekha Rani Debi, head teacher of Panchagarh Government Girls' High School, said there are 800 students in her school from six to class nine. She got the new books as per their demand.
She further said, the books were distributed to the students in due time in presence of the guardians arranging a function on the school premises.
DC Sabina Yasmin distributed new books as chief guest.
She said timely book distribution among students is one of the successful programmes of the present government. Students will be able to start their studies from the beginning of the education year. Thus one day they will be able to make their carrier as good citizens of the country.
District Education Officer Shankar Kumar Gosh said, the books were distributed to the students formally at every school in the district.

RAJSHAHI: About 6 lakh students got new textbooks on the first day of the year in the district.
The textbooks were distributed at primary and secondary level educational institutions in the district on Tuesday morning.
The textbook festival was inaugurated at 11am at Rajshahi Collegiate School.
Chaired by DC SM Abdul Kader, Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton inaugurated the book festival as chief guest.
In 2019, a total of 6,49,642 primary and secondary students in the district got 49,99,743 new books.
SAPAHAR, NAOGAON: Upazila Chairman Alhaz Shamsul Alam Shah Chowdhury and UNO Kallyan Chowdhury formally inaugurated the festival on Pilot High School ground on Tuesday at 10am.

At that time, new textbooks were distributed among the students of Pilot High School and Model Government Primary School.
Among others, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sobur Ali, Secondary Education Officer Dulal Alam, Primary Education Officer Shahidul Alam, President of Pilot High School managing committee Abdul Bari Shah Chowdhury, and Head Teacher Sajedul Alam were also present at the programme.
UNO Kallyan Chowdhury said about 1.5 lakh textbooks were distributed among the primary and secondary level students of the upazila.

RANGAMATI: About 13.50 lakh new textbooks have been distributed among the primary and secondary level students of the district on Tuesday.
Rangamati Zila Parishad Chairman Brisoketu Chakma distributed the textbooks among the students of Banarupa Government Primary School in the district town. At that time, District Primary Education Officer Khorshed Alam was also present.

On the other hand, DC AKM Mamunur Rashid distributed the textbooks among the students of Rangamati Government High School, BIAM Laboratory School, Kathaltoly Government Primary School and Rani Dayamoyee High School.
At that time, District Secondary Education Officer Uttam Khisa, Sadar UNO Sumany Akhter, and Head Teacher of Rani Dayamoyee High School Ranatosh Mollick were also present.
