No security threat over 31st Night: DMP chief
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia has said there is no security threat over the 31st Night to be celebrated tonight (Monday night).

He, however, said they have taken additional security measures as the city dwellers are celebrating the night on the back of Sunday's national election.

The DMP Commissioner came up with the remarks while briefing reporters at the DMP headquarters on Monday afternoon, reports UNB.

He said the 31st Night programmes, including DJ party, will be allowed only in five-star hotels. "No programmes will be allowed in open space like Hatirjheel or on rooftop."

Mentioning that there is no restriction on indoor programmes, Asaduzzaman said local police will have to be informed for necessary security.

He said additional security measures have taken so that no one can carry out any kind of subversive act and violence during the post-election time.

Surveillance has already been intensified in and around Dhaka University as well as Gulshan, Baridhara and Banani diplomatic enclaves, the DMP chief said.

Residents of Gulshan will have to enter the area through Kakoli and Amtali after 8pm tonight for the security reason. Similarly, outsiders in Gulshan have been asked to leave the area by 8pm, he said.

Asaduzzaman regretted in advance as the city dwellers will have to face hazards during security search in check-posts set up at different strategic points as part of ensuring foolproof security for smooth celebrations of the 31st Night.
