All must accept the peoples’ mandate

Finally the 11th JS polls have been held countrywide in a peaceful-manner despite a few stray incidents of violence and deaths. However, poll results pouring in from various parts of the country re-confirmed, the people, once more desires the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She has once more emerged as their undisputed leader. Our plea to the defeated opposition political alliance and other parties is that, they must show respect to peoples' political choice of leadership and democracy, therefore accept the poll results categorically.

Also the recently ended national polls dismissed the political opponents' repeated claim of lack of political freedom in Bangladesh. The people freely voted for their desired candidates throughout the country. Particularly, the foreign media and observers must take note of it and appropriately convey the truth to their audiences. In some cases election coverage by some international media outlets appeared negative and one sided. This shouldn't have happened. Our heartfelt thanks goes to law enforcement agencies and the army for ensuring peace and discipline throughout the country.

The last fixation in our mind is post election violence coupled with rejecting poll results by the opposition parties, causing countrywide anarchy and mayhem. Needleless to say these would only cause unnecessary suffering for the general public. The country will be badly affected. Also the major political opposition must realise the importance of its professional obligations. The opposition party, in any functional democracy, is important as it is the party that scrutinizes the work of the ruling government to ensure that it acts within the ambit of the constitution. It must not get distracted, deliberately refrain and refuse to join and participate in the parliament.

Very shortly a new government is about to be formed. Our expectation from the government is to continue the flow of development unimpeded while taking the country into the ranks of a middle income country. Despite all political disagreements political parties in the country must unite under a single platform to promote pro-people and development based democracy. It's on this crucial point where winning or losing of elections is less important than strengthening the country, otherwise nation building.

Last of all , with the new year a few hours away , it's time we all take a sincere pledge to work together in order to build a prosperous Bangladesh.
