Dhaka-4 BNP candidate Salahuddin Ahmed was hospitalized after being attacked at Shyampur Model School and College centre on Sunday morning.
Miscreants beat up the BNP candidate and six of his followers when he went to the centre to cast vote at the 4th floor of the center around 9:15pm, leaving them injured.
Injured Salahuddin was rushed to Asgar Ali Hospital, Dhaka, reports a Bangla newspaper.
Tanvir Ahmed Robin, chief election coordinator of Salahuddin, told reporters that BNP agents were driven out of 55 centers, out of 77, in the constituency. Awami League men in association with police drove them out, he alleged.
He said polling agents are now out of the centers and they are asked to leave the place.
In this constituency, Awami-led grand alliance candidate Syed Abul Hossain Babla is the main rival of BNP's Salahuddin.
