The government has appointed Saida Muna Tasneem, currently serving as Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand, as the country's new High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
A career diplomat, Tasneem belongs to BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre, according to a release of the Foreign Ministry issued on Monday.
In her diplomatic career, Tasneem served in Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the UN in New York and Bangladesh High Commission in London in various capacities.
She also served as Director General for United Nations and External Publicity wings of the Foreign Ministry.
She obtained her BSc (Engineering) degree from the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (Buet), Dhaka in 1988 and did her MSc in Public Policy and Management from School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
She is married, with three sons.
The departing Bangladesh High Commissioner in London, Md Nazmul Quaunine, will be transferred to Bangkok to take up her former position.
