Students of BRAC University have boycotted classes and exams, demanding unconditional release of their fellows arrested during the campaign for safer roads.
Final examinations of all semesters in the university and classes were expected to begin at 10:00am on Wednesday.
"Our brothers were remanded and demands of our younger brothers and sisters were not met. We were attacked. We are mentally unable to sit for the exams or attend any class under these circumstances," Aditya Ahsan Bari, a student of the university, told.
"We will not return to the classrooms as long as our brothers are not released
from jail."
Meanwhile, the university suspended the semester final exams on Wednesday.
"The semester final examinations scheduled for Aug 8 have been postponed. Final exams will begin soon after the Eid-ul-Azha," said retired Lt Col Md Foyzul Islam, registrar of the university, in a statement.
Twenty-two students of East West University, North South University, South East University and BRAC University were remanded on Tuesday in two cases filed over the attacks on police and vandalism during the campaign for safer roads.
