In Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) election, results of all 138 centres have been announced unofficially.

AL-supported mayor candidate AHM Khairuzzaman Liton emerged winner by getting 1,66,394 votes while his opponent BNP-backed candidate Mohammad Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul got 78,492 votes.

Earlier, Awami League mayor candidate AHM Khairuzzaman Liton claimed that the election was held in a fair and festive atmosphere.

“Who worked for me in the election, and if I win I would like to work with all of them,” he said this at the party's metropolitan office at the press conference on Monday evening.

Awami League central executive council member SM Kamal, Rajshahi-3 MP, Ayen Uddin, city Awami League vice-president Mir Iqbal, district general secretary Asaduzzaman Asad and general secretary of city Awami League Dablu Sarker were present in the conference.

Earlier, BNP-backed candidate Mohammad Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul said, “My response is that government endangered democracy, I did not cast my vote. Where there is no value of vote and employees of the state are involved with vote rigging, there is no value of my vote also,”

Earlier, Bulbul took position in front of Islamia College centre at Binodpur area of the city at around 1pm, protesting at the vote rigging.
