Veteran
Ganasangeet artiste Fakir Alamgir was given Lifetime Achievement Award
at the Dhallywood Music and Film Award. The award ceremony was held for
the 17th time at Atlantic City in the state of New Jersey, USA. Fakir
Alamgir received the award from expatriate Engr. Abu Hanif who also
happens to be the CEO of People N Tech, an IT corporate house looking to
support aspiring IT professionals from Bangladesh in USA. Other winners
of the night included Rumana Morshed, Kanak Chapa and Tahsan Khan in
the Best Singer category. SI Tutul and folk singer Selim Chowdhury got
Best Singer Award in the popular choice category. Fakir Alamgir and New
York Insurance President Shah Newaz handed over the prizes to SI Tutul
and Selim Chowdhury.

Sweety, Afzal Husain, Ferdousi Ikram got awards as prolific Bangladeshi
artistes in New York. The event started with musica performance by
Fakir Alamgir. He sang patriotic songs at the event. Then Kanak Chapa,
SI Tutul, Selim Chowdhury, Tahsan, Rano Newaz also took to the stage to
render music. Alamgir Khan Alam, chief of the organising firm Showtime
Music and Play gave the welcome speech on the first session. This year
the award was held for the first time in its sixteen year long history
in two sessions first at Sheraton Convention Center in Atlantic City,
New Jersey; then at York College Auditorium in New York City, New York.
