Mumbai, Feb 27: Former Victoria (Australia) coach Simon Helmot has been appointed as a batting coach for the Bangladesh cricket team for the forthcoming tri-nation series to be played in Sri Lanka for the Nidahas Trophy, it is learnt here. According to the highly placed sources in the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Helmot was a club cricketer in Australia and was also part of the Bangladesh support staff during Sri Lanka's visit to the Bangladesh. The 46-year-old Helmot played as a right-handed batsman for Fitzroy-Doncaster, Hawthorn-Waverley in the past. In 2016, he was appointed as a High Performance Coach in Bangladesh. Helmot has extensive experience of coaching sides including Sunrisers Hyderabad team in India's IPL.
