The homecoming day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed at Islamic University (IU) in Kushita on Wednesday with a befitting manner.
Marking the day, a colourful procession, led by University Vice Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, was brought out from the administrative building around 11.30am. It was terminated at the foot of ‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib’ mural after parading the campus.
Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, Acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, IUTA former President Professor M Mahbubur Rahman, Secretary Professor M Anwar Hossain, Proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman, teachers, officials and students including IU unit BCL leaders and activists attended the procession.
Later, the VC, the Pro-VC, the Treasurer and the acting registrar placed floral wreath at the mural on behalf of the university administration for the first time after its inauguration on January 7, this year.
The Provost of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, IU unit BCL president and secretary also placed floral wreaths.
A munajat was also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu.
