Youth held for beating rape victim’s father

SIRAJGANJ, Dec 29: Police arrested a young man on Friday for allegedly beating the father of a rape victim at Ramarchar village in Ullapara upazila for protesting the incident.
The arrestee is Hafizur Rahman, son of Motaleb Hossain of the village.
Waheduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Salanga Police Station, said Shahadat Hossain, son of Munnaf Ali, and Shah Alam, both neighbours of the victim, violated the minor girl on Thursday after taking her to the Goza Bridge area.
Hafizur, a relative of Shahadat and Shah Alam, beat the father of the victim when he protested the incident, leaving him injured.
However, no one was arrested over the rape.
