SKS Foundation to celebrate 30-year completion of activities today

GAIBANDHA, Nov 30: The successful 30-year completion of SKS Foundation, a reputed non-government organisation, will be celebrated at SKS Inn at Radhakrishnapur under Sadar Upazila here on Friday in a befitting manner.
As part of the celebration, SKS Foundation has chalked out different programmes that include inaugural session, experience exchange, and cake festival.
This was disclosed by Chief Executive of SKS Foundation Rasel Ahmed Liton in a press briefing which was held at the SKS head office conference room at 10:30am.
In the press briefing, Rasel Ahmed Liton said on December 1, 1987, the organisation was established at Bharatkhali under Shagahta Upazila of the district in the name of Samaj Kalyan Sangstha (SKS) and then it was turned into SKS Foundation in 2008.
Since its inception, the organisation has been playing significant role in changing the socio-economic condition of the poor and underprivileged people of the project command areas side by side with overall development in education, health and agriculture sectors, he also said.
At present, the organisation is working at 20 districts under Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Khulna divisions of the country with the financial support of donor agencies, he added.
On this day, SKS School and College adjacent to SKS head office would be inaugurated for academic activities, he further added.
Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Advocate Fazley Rabbi Miah, Chairman of PKSF Dr. Khaliquzzaman and Whip Mahbub Ara Begum Gini will attend the inaugural session as honourable guests, he mentioned.
Managing Director of PKSF Abdul Karim, Deputy Commissioner Gautam Chandra Pal, Police Super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled, Gaibandha Municipality Mayor Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon, Country Director of Action Aid Farah Kabir, District Education Officer M. Enayet Hossain and District Primary Education Officer Aminul Islam will be present at the event as special guests, he briefed.
Head of Programmes of SKS Foundation M. Rajab Ali, Assistant Directors M. Mahfuzar Rahman and Palash Kumar Kunda and Station Manager of Radio Sarabela 98.8 FM Mahfuz Faruk were also present in the press briefing.
A number of journalists of print and electronic media including district correspondent of The Daily Observer also participated in the press briefing.
