46th death anniv of  Syed Ator Ali today

MAGURA, Oct 12: The 46th death anniversary of Liberation War organiser and former member of provincial assembly (MPA) Syed Ator Ali will be observed in the district on Friday.
To mark the day, Syed Ator Ali Public Library will organise a discussion and Milad Mahfil at its auditorium in the afternoon.
Founder president of the then sub-divisional unit of Awami League (AL) as well as the organiser of Liberation War in Magura, Ator Ali was made the political convener of sector 8 and 9 during the war.  
He worked hard while discharging his duties and responsibilities as the political convener and fell seriously sick in the month of September, 1971.
Subsequently, he died at Kalyani Hospital in India on October 13 of the same year while undergoing treatment there.
He was buried at Kashipur village in Jhikorgachha upazila of  Jessore district as it was not possible to bring his body to Magura due to the crackdown in the country by Pakistani occupation soldiers..
