IU launches 8 new departments
The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia lunched eight more departments from the academic year 2017-18.
Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari told media on Monday afternoon.
The departments are Law & Land Management Department under faculty of Law & Shariah, Development Studies and Social Welfare Departments under the faculty of Humanities & Social Science, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy and Environmental Science & Geography departments under the faculty of Applied Science & Technology, Human Resource Management and Tourism & Hospitality Management departments under the faculty of Business Administration.
The total number of departments in the university is now thirty three.
The number of students in the newly introduced departments will be 540 while a total of 2,235 students can be admitted into the university from the academic year 2017-18.
Acting registrar of the university SM Abdul Latif said we have already received a fax on Monday from the University Grants Commission (UGC) about the approval for the departments signed by Khandokar Hamidur Rahman, additional director of Public University Management section, UGC.
