Demand for compensation before 7-day fishing ban |
A group of 27 rights based civil society network, incqluding the representatives of farmers, fishers and labour organizations have demanded cancellation of registration of the fake fishermen and provide compensation before at least seven days of beginning on the fishing ban period. The demands were raised at a human chain and rally organised in front of the National Press Club on Saturday. Online Knowledge Society, Arpon, Uddipan, Unnayan Dhara Trust, Udayan Bangladesh, SDO, COAST Trust, National Krishani Sova, National Labour Alliance, Dak Dia Jai, DOCAP, Dwip Unnayan Society, Nolchity Model Society, Pirojpur Gono Unnayan Somity, Prantojon, PSI, Bangladesh Labour Federation, Bangladesh Bhumihin Somity, Labour Resource Centre, Bangladesh Agricultural Firm Labour Federation, Sonkalpa Trust, Songram, CDP, Bangaldesh Fish Workers Alliance, Muktir Dak and Hoar Farmers and Fishers Alliance jointly organised the programme. Speakers at the human chain claimed that the real fishermen are not getting the government supports and services. They are being deprived of those services and benefits while the services and benefits are going to those, who are not real fishermen. They were enlisted in the fishermen lists with fraudulence. They urged the government to cancel the registration of fake fishermen and enroll the names of real fishermen with the support of local administration. They has also demanded ration for the fishermen before at least 7 days of the fishing ban period. |
