Anti-imperialism solidarity day observed
Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU), Left student wing, on Sunday observed the 44th Anti-Imperialism Solidarity day and pledged that the organisation would keep on protesting against imperialism.
On this day in 1973, two BCU leaders Matiul Islam and Mirza Kadirul Islam were killed by police shooting in the capital while protesting United States' gruesome attacks and genocides in Vietnam. Activists of BCU placed wreath at anti-imperialism solidarity day memorial near the National Press Club.
Leaders of Communist Party of Bangladesh, Ganasamhati Andolon, Socialist Party of Bangladesh fractions and others also placed wreaths at the memorial.
BCU also held a commemoration rally at the Shoparjito Shadhinota of Dhaka University which was addressed among others by CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim, Udichi President Shafiuddin Ahmed, educationist AN Rasheda and Jessore Science and Technology University teacher Avinnu Kibria Islam.
Communist Party of Bangladesh President Mujahidul Islam Selim called upon his party to forge a unity against communalism, imperialism and the absence of democracy in the country.
He also pledged to intensify massive global movement to prevent aggression by imperialist forces.
