Bangladesh will miss the services of their middle-order batsman and wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim in the remaining two ODIs against New Zealand.
He has suffered a hamstring injury.
He will be out of action for two weeks and is also set to miss the three Twenty20 Internationals after the ODIs. He is doubtful for the first Test which begins on Jan 12.
"We are looking at two weeks, anything before that is a bonus," coach Chandika Hathurusingha told reporters on Wednesday.
"He's been one of the stable batsman and a good wicketkeeper in all formats, but injuries are part and parcel of the game."
Mushfiqur’s injury cleared the decks for reserve wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan's ODI debut in the second match at Nelson on Thursday.
The 28-year-old Mushfiqur went for a quick single in the 38th over in the first ODI on Monday and pulled a hamstring while stretching to reach the non-striker’s end.
He stood up and tried to walk it off, but eventually had to walk out retired hurt.
He was supposed to go through a scan on Wednesday. But since there was no improvement, no scan was done.
Beginning on Jan 3, Bangladesh plays three Twenty20 matches in New Zealand followed by Tests at Wellington (Jan 12-16) and Christchurch (Jan 20-24).
