Hallmark chairman Jasmine held

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday arrested Hallmark group Chairman Jasmine Islam on charge of misappropriating Tk 85.87 crore from Janata Bank's Motijheel branch between June 2011 and June 2015.
ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said Jasmine Islam was arrested from Dhaka in the afternoon.
Earlier on the day, ACC Deputy Assistant Director Joynal Abedin filed a case with Motijheel Police Station against 16 people, including Jasmine Islam, accusing them of misappropriating over Tk 85 crore.
On October 2012, the anti-graft body filed 11 cases against 27 top officials of Sonali Bank and Hallmark Group, including Jasmine, who later secured bail in all the cases.
