Auhom aims to create employment opportunities

Dr Khaleda Aktar Khanam, gynecologist, founded Auhom, a fashion brand, which is aiming to create employment opportunities, promote local couture and popularize traditional weaving. Its journey started on February 3 last year.
Since then it is branding native weavers who deal with Jamdani, Tangail looms, cotton and Rajshahi silk and helping to let alive Bangladesh's traditional business with creative designs based on local concept. Bangladeshis, living abroad, are getting their beloved motherland's touch in wearing dresses in particular traditional Khadi Punjabi and Fatwa of Cumilla.
Just in a single year its native culture based on trends have overwhelmed people and letting them like own country products that everyone is appreciating the designs. The Saree has been to America, Canada, Oman, Australia and other destinations for several times. Auhom dreams one day will work on own looms. It is working with marginal weavers now who are trying to survive due to availability of foreign products and local traditional couture is on extinct.
