 Man gets life term for killing his mother in Bogura A Bogura court on Sunday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his mother in 2015. Additional district and sessions Judge Habiba Mandal handed down the verdict in presence of the convict. The court also fined him Tk 20,000, in default, has to serve six more months in jail, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Nasimul Karim Holi. The convict is Abu Bakkar, 30, son of late Habibar Akhand of Dhanut upazila of Bogura district. According to case statement, Abu Bakkar was a drug addict. On October 12, 2015, Bakkar locked into altercation with his mother Altafunnesa, aged 58, over a trifling matter. At one stage, Bakkar hit his mother with a stick, leaving her critically injured. Locals rescued Altafunnesa and took her to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where she died on October 13 while undergoing treatment . NY |
