Pointing to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s remark that “The government won’t find a way to escape,” Awami Legaue (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader has said, “We won’t flee, and will take shelter to Fakhrul saheb’s house if necessary.”

He made the remarks at a public rally organised by Rajshahi city and district units of Awami League at Madrasa Maidan.

Earlier on Saturday, Fakhrul at a march programme in city’s Badda area said that, “We want to send out a message to the government through the fresh program to hand over power to a caretaker government with immediate resignation and empower the people to exercise their right to vote under a new Election Commission.”

“Otherwise you will have to face a very shocking ouster and you won’t find a way to escape,” said the BNP secretary general.

Qusder in his speech said, “BNP has begun it funeral procession. They now ask the government to flee. They are saying that we won’t find a way to escape. It is you Fakhrul sahib who are fleeing. Tarique Rahman fled to London after signing bond that he will no longer do politics.”

“Your fugitive and convicted acting chairman Tarique Rahman fled the country. We don’t know how to flee.”

Quader further said, “We were born in this country and will die here. We would not flee. Where will we flee? We won’t flee, and take shelter to Fakhrul saheb’s house if necessary? Will you give us shelter? If not, he has a house in Thakurgaon! We will go to that house.”

He also said that BNP would learn the lesson when they face defeat again in the next general election.
