BELA's Rizwana Hasan's car attacked in Chattogram |
![]() Bangladesh Environment Lawyers Association (BELA) chief executive Rizwana Hasan Brickbats were hurled targeting the car of Bangladesh Environment Lawyers Association (BELA) chief executive Rizwana Hasan in Chattogram on Thursday. The incident happened at Uttar Pahartali Supari Bagan area under Akbar Shah Police Station in the port city. Later, Rizwana Hasan filed a case against several persons including Chattogram City Corporation's No. 9 Uttar Pahartali ward councillor Zahurul Alam Jasim at Akbar Shah Police Station. The case statement says that officials of BELA and a team of journalists led by Rizwana Hasan were going to witness illegal hill cutting and filling up Kalirchhara Canal. On their way, several people led by No. 9 Uttar Pahartali ward councillor Zahurul Alam Jasim waylaid them, They also threatened to attack them. They also wanted to know where they came from and why they came. At one stage, the attackers stopped Rizwana's rented car at the gate of Lake City Residential Project and took the vehicle to the office of the project forcibly at gun point. Later, receiving information, police went to the spot and rescued the driver along with the car. Besides, brickbats were hurled chasing the car when it was going to the link road. END/SZA |
