Rights bodies for inclusive negotiation in climate conf

Ahead of the Conference of Parties and Global Climate Conference to be held on November 7-18 in Morocco capital Marrakech, several rights groups have urged the Bangladesh delegation for a transparent and inclusive climate negotiation.
Bangladesh must take the leading position on behalf of LDC group in the G77 and China group and also in negotiation, especially with respect to formulation of detail of agreement which will be implemented from 2020, they said at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Friday.
Eight rights groups, including Bangladesh Poribesh Andolan (BAPA), Bangladesh Climate Journalist Forum (BCJF), Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples on Climate Change and Bio Diversity (BIPNetCCBD), Climate Change Development Forum (CCDF), Coastal Development Partnership (CDP), CSRL, EquityBD and FEJB jointly organised the press conference.
Moderated by Rezaul Karim Chowdhury of EquityBD, it was also addressed among others by FEJB Presided Qumrul Islam Chowdhury, Coordinator of CSRL Prodip K Roy and Md Mozahidul Islam Nayan of Oxfam International. Sharmind Neelormi of CSRL read out the position paper in the conference.




In her position paper, Sharmind Neelormi presented eight proposals to the Bangladesh official climate negotiation team, including global goal on adaptation prioritising the issues of LDCs and MVCs like Bangladesh, capacity building for LDCs and MVCs with respect to access to climate finance.    �UNB
