PM crosses Padma Bridge paying toll as first passenger

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has crossed the Padma Bridge after paying toll by herself soon after opening it to the traffic.

She paid Tk 750 as toll for her own car.

At the same time, she paid the toll of all the cars in her motorcade. The head of the government paid Tk 16,400 as toll for all the cars.

At about 11:58am on Saturday, the Prime Minister unveiled the Padma Bridge plaque at Mawa-end.

Then she unveiled the Padma Bridge plaque and Mural-2 at Janjira point at 12:36pm.

The prime minister's motorcade left for Janjira-end at 12:06pm. Earlier at about 11:48am, she paid the designated amount of toll for the cars of her own motorcade.

Earlier, on June 17 last, the authorities concerned conducted a test run for the toll plaza of the Padma Bridge as some public cars crossed the toll plaza at the Mawa-end.

The test run continued for seven days and the authorities rehearsed the process of taking tolls and issuing slips during the period.





Although the Padma Bridge was inaugurated for vehicular movement it will be opened to traffic at 6:00am on Sunday.
