56 held in anti-drug drives in city

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in anti-drugs drives have detained 56 people along with drugs from different areas of Dhaka city.

Police conducted anti-drugs drives in different areas of the city in the last 24 hours till Monday morning and arrested them for consuming and selling drugs.

During the drive, 2,836 Yaba tablets, 70 grams and 20 puria (small packet) of heroin, 54.897 kilograms of hemp and nine injections were recovered from their possessions.

A total of 38 cases were filed with the police stations concerned under the Narcotics Control Act, DMP media and public relations depatment confirmed.
