Continuous rains damage Aman paddy, lentil in Barguna


Continuous rains for last couple of days, triggered by depression over the Bay of Bengal, have damaged Aman paddy and other crops on a vast tract of land at Betagi upazila in Barguna district.

The incessant showers damaged Aman paddy on 10,961 hectares, winter crops like radish, cabbage, tomato, bean, cauliflower and turnip on 485 hectares, and lentil on 2,865 hectares, according to the upazila agriculture office.

The untimely rain also increase sufferings to the people.

The upazila upazila agriculture officer Md Iqbal Hossain said the extent of damage may rise as the showers still continue.
