Man killed in clash over establishing supremacy

A man was killed and 11 others were injured in a clash over establishing supremacy at Bancharampur upazila in Brahmanbaria district on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Alek Miah, 52, a resident of Radhanagar village under Ujan Char union in the upazila, said Bancharampur Model Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Raju Ahmed.

Quoting locals, OC Raju said former UP member Masud Miah and incumbent UP member  Mohsin Miah of Radhanagar village have long been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in locality.

Following the dispute, the supporters of both men engaged in a clash at about 8:00pm on Sunday.





At least 11 people from both sides received injuries in the clash.

The injured were admitted to Bancharampur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Alek Miah dead, the OC added.
