Plea to file case against Reza Kibria, Nur

Bangladesh Muktijuddha Mancha (BMM) has submitted a prayer to file a case against three persons including Gana Adhikar Parishad convener Reza Kibria and member secretary Nurul Huq Nur bringing allegation of instigating communal attacks across the country.

Al Mamun, general secretary of the central committee of the organisation, submitted a prayer to the Shahbagh Police Station on Wednesday afternoon.

Shahbagh Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Moudut Halder confirmed it.

It was stated in the prayer that "several leaders and activists of Bangladesh Gana Adhikar Parishad carried out attacks on different puja mandaps including JM Sen Hall in the port city of Chattogram on the Bijoya Dashamai puja festival on October 15 last, being instigated by BNP-Jamaat directly, and at the directive Reza Kibria and Nurul Huq Nur. Some of the attackers were arrested later on.

"Immediately after the incident, Jubo Adhikar Parishad's joint convener Tareque Rahman denied about their involvement in the attacks coming on Facebook live. At the same time, he made remarks undermining the Hindu religion. His remarks created religious division in Bangladesh, and instigated BNP-Jamaat activists to carry out attacks on temples across the country including Cumilla and Chattogram.

"They have indulged in conspiracy to oust a lawful government creating anarchy in the state. Even on October 26 last, the Gana Adhikar Parishad convener at a meeting at Zaman Tower declared to form an alliance with the banned organisation Jamaat, which was contrary to the existing laws and spirits of the liberation war. Besides, Nur delivered speech terming the attackers on JM Sen Hall puja mandap as "innocent" which amounted to instigating the communal attacks.

"We plea to file a sedition case against three accused--Nurul Huq Nur, Reza Kibria and Tareque Rahman--for giving directives to carry out attacks on temples of the minority community in Bangladesh and vandalising those."

Contacted, Shahbagh police station OC Moudut Halder said a general diary was filed with the police station against three persons including Reza Kibria and Nurul Huq Nur on Wednesday afternoon.

"We've contacted with Cyber Cell for cyber crime related incidents. If we get response from there, legal measures would be taken against the accused," he said.
